These handmade seats are the creations of Irish designer Claire-Anne O-Brien, combining her passion for knitted fabrics with sustainable development and fair trade. The handcrafted stools come is different shapes and a range of bright pastel colors. The design is uber cool & trendy and a must have winter furniture because of the softness & warmth of the wool.
The designer also has worked in collaboration with local women in Ladakh developing prototypes of hand knitted products like yaks, ibex, sheep and other animals native to the local region as well as hand warmers and socks using traditional patterns and natural yarns. These objects are made from the original Himalayan yarn and continue to be produced by the local people and sold to tourists along the popular trekking routes in the region, providing direct income to the producers.
