The Boosted Board Dual+ Is Form And Function In Perfect Harmony Design -

In 2007, Apple took the idea of a basic cell phone and introduced cutting-edge technology to make it a smartphone, all the while focusing on creating a product that was beautiful as it was groundbreaking. Boosted has done something very similar to the skateboard, a virtually stone-age product, and turned it into something much more modern.

The Dual+ is one of the latest and greatest iterations of the Boosted Board. This time it is in a 38” longboard deck format and features a 2,000-watt set of twin brushless DC motors capable of propelling you to 22 mph. For perspective, Usain Bolt is a mere five mph faster.

There’s a lot more to the Dual+ than initially meets the eye. Let’s take a look at what makes it so special.

Design

On the surface, there would be very little to suggest that the Dual+ is an electric skateboard if not for the signature orange branding found on the wheels and logo embossed on the grip tape. The flexible bamboo deck is streamlined and contoured to fit the components that lie beneath while maintaining an ergonomic construction.

It is not flashy; if anything, it’s fairly discrete. The only thing that really stands out is the 75mm Orangatang wheels, which are adorned with a bright orange coating with a unique center design. But with the Dual+ coming in at around $1,499 for the top model, the less it stands out, the better.

Functionality

The board is controlled by the included remote, which features three inputs: a scroll wheel for the throttle, a safety button that must be pressed to move, and a button for changing riding modes and turning the remote on. The remote is charged up with a standard micro USB cable.

To accommodate new riders, the board has four-speed profiles which limit the top speed between 11 and 22 mph. The range depends on the speed profile, with the top speed setting getting you about 6-8 miles. Of course, with the board being electric, you can bring your own charger along in a backpack to juice it up during long commutes.

Is It Worth It?

If you need a compact transportation device to get you from point A to B in the city, then the Dual+ is a considerable option. Alternatives all have their pros and cons. For example, a bicycle is likely cheaper, but it is much larger and requires more energy from you to ride.

If you’ve never skated before, you can always pick up a traditional longboard to start off. They’re much more affordable and will help you learn how to use one before moving to something as fast as an electric longboard. Rideasf.Com has tons of posts to help you out with your first longboard.

Conclusion

We can all agree that the Boosted Board is a well-designed product that deserves praise for its unique construction. Whether it is a viable form of transportation is for you to decide.
