Foldable boat by Max Frommeld and Arno Mathies

Maarno is the first foldable boat concept designed by designer duo Max Frommeld and Arno Mathies. The minimalist boat is created from a standard sheet of plastic which can be assembled in a few easy steps. It draws inspiration from a paper-folding workshop in which systems of creating various forms out of a single piece of material were introduced.

This folding boat is apt for the urban dwellers who love the idea of owning a boat, but are restricted due to space constraints. The folding nature of the boat makes it extremely convenient for storage and transportation. The boat is easy to assemble and can be used in the urban settings which include canals, ponds and lakes or it can also be used during natural disasters such as floods.

Ideal for one or two people, the foldable boat comes with two comfy cushions and two oars. While Maarno is still in it’s prototype phase, the designers are constantly working towards improvements and looking for collaborators who would be interested in further developing this product.
