Art intended to provoke dialogue

Dutch design became world-famous in the 1990s, but though consumers and industry praise it, few can define it. Connecting Concepts shows the unique Dutch approach to the design process, which is characterised by an emphasis on the sharing of ideas, technology and materials. The 30 objects on display help the viewer to understand Dutch design on the material and intellectual levels by providing an in-depth look at concepts, processes and multidisciplinary cross-pollination.

Connecting Concepts is intended to provoke dialogue. Premsela believes the local and Dutch design industries will benefit from understanding each other’s processes better. Each participating country provides new content. This ensures the exhibition will remain dynamic and relevant and look different in each city it visits.

Connecting Concepts was previously on show at the Istanbul Design Week and also at the beginning of the Istanbul Design Biennial.

The exhibition will be next traveling to Brazil and will be on view at the FAAP Museu de Arte Brasileira from 21st November 2012 to 20th January 2013.
