Wooden floor lamp by Alex MacMaster

Characterized by it’s organic shape, the Iris floor lamp is designed by Alex MacMaster of MacMaster Design in London. The lamp is made of plywood which has been bent to create organic curves which represent leaves of a plant. A layer of timber veneer is pressed over the ply and is available in three different options – walnut, sycamore and oak.  The wood is sealed and waxed which helps in easy maintenance. However, like any veneer finished product, this lamp needs some love and care once in a while. It is recommended that you re-wax it to remove stains and enhance the wooden grains. If you are placing this light close to a window, make sure it doesn’t receive direct sunlight as this might result in discoloration of the timber.

” One of the founding designs of the MacMaster range, the Iris floor lamp consists of curved lamination of timber that echo the shape of Iris leaves to create a sculptural, unique and impacting form. The sets of leaves give the lamp a structured yet organic form that allows light to graduate upwards on the interior of the lamp. An energy saving light bulb is utilized for a warm ambient light that casts subtle shadows onto nearby walls, thereby extending the visual depth of the design”
