Sculptural Delights by Maskull Lasserre

Montreal based Artist & Sculptor, Maskull Lasserre’s passion for creating sculptures out of everyday objects in life is not only unique but also extraordinary. Maskull has a in born creative spark which can transform trash into a gem. Some of his works consists of human skulls & bones carved from an old book or a chair or hanger. Lasserre’s drawings and sculptures explore the unexpected potential of the everyday and its associated structures of authority, class, and value.  Elements of nostalgia, allegory, humor, and the macabre are incorporated into works that induce strangeness in the familiar, and provoke uncertainty in the expected.

asserre has been awarded several public sculpture commissions, including for the Shenkman Arts Center (City of Ottawa) . He has exhibited work across Canada, and is represented in the collections of the Government of Canada (Transport Canada, DND), Canada Council for the Arts, and the City of Ottawa. He is also a recent participant in the Canadian Forces War Artist Program in Afghanistan.
