Pine Stools made from disposed Christmas trees: Christmas Tree Project by French Designer Fabien Cappello

While Christmas season for most of us is all about shopping, decorating the christmas tree, wrapping up gifts and spending some lovely moments with family, for French designer Fabien Cappello it’s time to sharpen his tools. “There is 1.8 millions christmas trees in the street of London in January. I took advantage of this huge amount of wood shipped every year in the city and investigate the finite economy of Christmas trees drawing on this local resource to create furniture from the discarded wood.” – says Fabien Cappello

As part of Cappello’s  ‘Christmas Tree Project’, he picks up the disposed wooden pieces and creates ssome amazing three & four legged stools in his workshop. Coppello carves the legs with basic tools without using any machines and that is evident in the details and joinery. The raw, unfinished legs gives the stool a very organic look and feel.
