British Photographer Richard Wade’s ‘Human Chassis, is a pictorial elucidation of the special isolation that links a driver to their vehicle, effecting a unique and introverted process of thought that could occur only in this private sanctuary.
The subject in the car is a representation of human thought. A human chassis in which dreams, thoughts and emotions may flourish, protected from the encroaching darkness of reality. The reflections of branches upon the windows of these capsules are a visual representation of the subjects thought process : ghostly apparitions whose form and branching structure mirror the neural pathways of synapses within the human brain.
The windows act as a transparent barrier allowing the viewer a brief, restricted glimpse into the thoughts of the person. There is a juxtaposition of the intimate and artificially lit of the car and the wide open lifeless space outside.
