Folding chair made from a single piece of wood: Desile folding chair by Christian Desile

French visual artist & photographer Christian Desile was first recognized as a furniture designer and was highly commended for his creation of ‘Desile Folding Chair’ which was showcased at the 2009 Maison et Objet show. Desile, who is very much fascinated with geometry also won the Coup de Coeur Award for his folding chair. So, what really makes this chair interesting? The chair is made from a single piece of wood and the mechanism has no screws and joints. The chair is merely 0.8 inch thick when folded and can be easily hung on the wall or stacked in a storage space. More than 100 chairs can be stacked in just a 7 sq feet space. The chairs are available in two different versions: the bamboo chair for indoor purposes and the recycled PET plastic version created for the outdoors…Simply Amazing!!
