A coffee shop is not just about good coffee, but also a place where people like to chill, share conversations, and most important feel inspired.
Latvian interior designer Anna Butele of design studio Annvil has designed a cafe dedicated to art lovers, especially Dali fans. Situated in the heart of the creative district Spikeri in Riga, Cafe Dali‘s design is inspired by the unique shapes and forms from the surrealistic works of the prolific and exceptionally gifted artist Salvador Dali.
The interiors of the space reflects the surrealistic and imaginative style of Dali. A series of curved lines and floating shapes, both forming characteristics of Dali work are used in the bar design. Textured walls create an interesting optical illusion of shapes often used in Dali’s work. The upholstery and furniture is in blue and bronze, both referenced as Dali’s favourite colours.
The cafe aim at supporting young budding artists by providing a creative platform and hosting exhibitions. Cafe Dali encourages its customers to engage and immerse themselves in the art on display. Last but not the least, Cafe Dali links three worlds together – the genius of surrealism, Salvador Dali, the works of contemporary artists and the world’s best coffee…Inspiration starts here!
