Milan based furniture and interior designer Andrea Maestri explores the tabooed subjects and expressions of the civilized society to create design objects giving them an all new expression. Maestriland is a collection of bizarre furniture based on provocative themes taken without inhibitions from everyday life to create icons with universal communicative power. Each piece is handmade and is pushed to the extremity of a strongly figurative and unconventional aesthetics exploring different materials and techniques.
A cross shaped table with upside down Jesus legs, a wardrobe featuring a penis shaped handle/ hook, a mirror frame shaped like a female genital and a table lamp with the middle finger: All the objects represent a surreal way to turn upside down common beliefs and to create unpredictable scenarios. The final result is a mix of design, art and craftsmanship with timeless and symbolic meanings able to describe the madness and perversions of human society.
