Designed by\u00a0Ole Scheeren<\/strong>, partner of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA<\/strong>), Singapore’s stacked apartment complex\u00a0‘The Interlace’\u00a0<\/strong>breaks away from Singapore\u2019s standard typology of isolated, vertical apartment towers and instead explores a dramatically different approach to tropical living: an expansive interconnected network of living and communal spaces integrated with the natural environment.<\/p>\n <\/a>The development project covers a gross floor area of\u00a0170,000m2 on an elevated eight-hectare site. It is made up\u00a031 apartment blocks, each six storeys tall, comprising of an extensive and integrated network of private and communal spaces.\u00a0\u00a0The complex provides 1,040 apartment units of different\u00a0sizes with extensive outdoor spaces and landscaping.“The design addresses concerns of shared space and social needs in a contemporary society and simultaneously responds to issues of shared living and individuality by offering a multiplicity of indoor\/outdoor spaces specific to the tropical context.”<\/em>\u00a0Ole Scheeren explains<\/a><\/p>\n
