Germen Crew<\/strong>, a\u00a0youth organization with over 13 years of experience in alternative forms of communication such as graffiti<\/a>, murals and Social Studies research joined hands with the Mexican government to rehabilitate and beautify the\u00a0district of Palmitas in Pachuca in Mexico.<\/p>\n Painted over a period of five\u00a0months, the humongous artwork is unique in itself. Covering\u00a020,000\u00a0square meters of painted\u00a0surfaces over 209 houses\u00a0inhibited by 452 families or 1808 people, the mural aims at contributing to the\u00a0regeneration our social fabric worn by construction and reinterpretation of\u00a0the identity of the current citizen, strengthening Mexico’s\u00a0history and cultural practices.<\/p>\n Through\u00a0the dynamic content developed in their\u00a0projects, the crew aims to revitalize the Mexican mural painting scene,\u00a0generate a sense of belonging, foster\u00a0coexistence and create\u00a0cultural heritage and tourist attraction.<\/p>\n Not only has this Macro mural project embellished the neighborhood, it has also effectuated a positive social transformation by creating several employment opportunities and eliminating\u00a0youth violence.<\/p>\n
