Using the bare minimum of intervention, Austrian architecture studio Heri & Salli has created five small Viennese guest rooms at the Gegenbauer Vinegar Brewery in Vienna.

The highlighting feature of each room is a large bed constructed using an interlocking lattice of stacked timber beams. The Viennese Guest Bed is a multi-functional piece comprising of piled up squared timbers that create a central sleeping area, while the surrounding platforms help combine the functions of a guest room – rendering any additional furniture redundant.

The architectural elements such as the exposed brick walls, wooden ceilings and floor surfaces have been untouched to make the history of the house visible.

While the prevalent use of wood in the adjoining bathroom maintains the rustic look & feel, the unconcealed service pipes and cabling gives the room an industrial touch.

Guest Room Layout

Concept Models
