Designed by Jos Blom and Jasper Eustace, Edmund is one of the nine special rooms of the brand new Volkshotel in Amsterdam. The design of this unconventional hotel room is inspired by the irregular shape of a mountain. Several objects of wood and rubber have been clustered in the middle of the room to form a mountain-inspired structure that contacts all the functionality of a hotel room.

The bed has been arranged into a corner within a hollow bay, while the bathtub is on the top of the mountain surrounded by a cactus garden. The other side of the structure has a bathroom with a shower. The room is specially designed for the bold and fearless adventurer who gets excited with the idea of sleeping in a hollow bay, shower under a waterfall and bathe on top of a mountain surrounded by wild cactus plants.

Climb to the top and plant your flag, it’s only a little bit smaller than Mount Everest …Welcome to the Edmund Room!

Layout of the Edmund Room

Sectional Elevation

Built-in stairs leading to the pinnacle bathtub

Bathtub on the top of the mountain-inspired structure

Bathroom with vanity & shower

Photography by Arend Loerts

+ Volkshotel
