Recently spotted at the\u00a0Gentse Feesten, an annually held\u00a0music and theater festival in Ghent, Belgium, this beehive-like structure is a\u00a0cozy alternative to the uncomfortable camping and overpriced hotels during festival times.<\/p>\n
B-and-Bee<\/strong> is a mobile, modular, and stackable sleeping cell developed by\u00a0<\/span>Achilles Design<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0One Small Step<\/strong>, and produced and operated by social entrepreneurs <\/span>B<\/strong>arbara Vanthorre<\/strong>of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Compaan<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Ron hermans<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0Labeur<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>The structure consists of\u00a0<\/span>hexagonal sleeping cells,\u00a0each containing a comfy king-size bed that can transform into a lounge seat, with storage space underneath. The larch wood-clad cells are installed with lockers, lights and a power supply. Up to four cells can be stacked in a diagonal line, which can\u00a0accommodate upto 50 visitors on an area of 100 square meters.<\/span><\/p>\n Roll-up fabric covers are provided to protect the inhabitants from harsh weather conditions or simply provide privacy. The upper cells can be accessed through a lightweight metal stairs designed in a way to\u00a0prevent blocking access to any of the units below.<\/p>\n After 12 months of constant research & development and prototyping, the first six cells were finally launched at the\u00a0<\/span>G<\/a>entse Feesten<\/a>\u00a0in Ghent, Belgium.
