Should we go back to anterior modernity conceptions, which visualized the future only\u00a0through\u00a0religious hope? One such artist is\u00a0Naziha Mestaoui and her interactive installation One Beat One Tree<\/strong> which enables\u00a0spectators to create a virtual tree which in reality is planted somewhere else, via a heart beat. Recipient of\u00a0the\u00a0COAL 2014<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>award<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0installation\u00a0One Beat, One Tree<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>bridges the virtual and reality, technology and nature, as well as what is visible and invisible. The installation will be projected at the\u00a021st Climate Conference<\/a>\u00a0to be held in December 2015 in the city of Paris. Also, the monumental installation\u00a0<\/span>One Heart, One Tree<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>a project based on the concept of crowd greening will see Paris’\u00a0monuments covered\u00a0by a forest, allowing spectators to virtually create a tree they could see grow at the\u00a0rhythm\u00a0of their heart beats on the\u00a0monuments. The virtually born tree is then planted in reality somewhere in Europe, Latin America, Africa or Asia.<\/p>\n

Her extensive\u00a0travels\u00a0in the heart of\u00a0indigenous\u00a0communities in Amazon, India and Oman are the source of her inspiration to create a\u00a0series of projections built on the plurality of man & nature interactions, which as Philippe Descola puts it, makes our western\u00a0culture an exception, for its disconnection\u00a0with its environment. \u00a0She is researching on immaterial cultural patrimony of societies still living in a reality composed with visible and invisible realities.\u00a0In a creative process, Naziha reinvents the future of our societies, with the existing technologies and sciences, especially through quantum\u00a0physics. The project aims at\u00a0dematerialization in order to create an optimistic vision which draws its\u00a0inspirations from the more ancestral cultures in order to bring back\u00a0the essential values into\u00a0our reality.<\/p>\n
