In a quest to confront life in an extreme situation, French performing artist Abraham PointchevalAbraham Pointcheva has tried a couple of experiments to discover the unexplored situations in life. In the past, he immured himself for a week inside a bookstore in Marseille and also got himself buried in a deep hole in front of the Town Hall of the city of Tours.

This time the artist has tried something entirely unimaginable. Abraham Pointcheval decided to spend two whole weeks inside a hollowed-out carcass of a bear that has been positioned in the center of the hall at Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris.

Similar to a bear’s hibernating nature during the winter months, Pointcheval decided to go under hibernation mode for 2 weeks, starting on 1st April 2014. He will be staying within a small enclosure which is fully equipped with all the basic necessities including food, water, a charging dock and even a provision to relieve himself. Through this experiment, Pointcheval aims at understanding and challenging his physical & mental boundaries while experiencing “animal nature”.

The enclosure is equipped with surveillance cameras which relays the live image to the visitors and also enables them to interact with the artist.
