(fos)<\/strong><\/a>, a Madrid and Barcelona based\u00a0multidisciplinary team of independent interior designers and art directors consisting of\u00a0Susana Piquer<\/strong>,\u00a0Julio Calvo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Eleni Karpatsi<\/strong>\u00a0created their first ephemeral installation at the vegan restaurant Rayen in Madrid.\u00a0The fa\u00e7ade of the restaurant was illuminated for four consecutive days and nights in September 2013 using over 250 metres of yellow tape to create an illusion of an artificial light shining from above the restaurant’s entrance.<\/p>\n

The installation is also called (fos), which means ‘Light’ in Greek and ‘Melted’ in Catalan. The illustration itself appears like a ray of bright yellow light melting down the grey concrete wall. In order to enhance this visual effect, the team placed\u00a0three pineapples, a piece of art, two garden chairs, a garden table and a lamp – creating a\u00a0visual game between perspective and coloured volumes.\u00a0The tape covered both horizontal and vertical surfaces creating a skin which followed the beam’s shape. The colour covered the items only where the light fell, regarding the front view.<\/p>\n

The final result was a vibrant ephemeral setting that not only created an instant sense of curiosity amongst passersby, but also marked as an intelligent self promotional kick-starting project for the creative team of (fos).<\/p>\n
