Nike<\/a>‘s most recent\u00a0innovation, the ground-breaking Nike LunarTerra Arktos<\/strong>\u00a0is a pair of all-weather boots designed to provide\u00a0the comfort of a sneaker with the protection of a boot. Designed by Nike’s senior designer\u00a0Nate VanHook, the design draws inspiration from\u00a0the modularity of Matryoshka dolls and the toughness of Arctic bears.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s LunarTerra Arktos converges new and traditional technologies to form an ACG-approved footwear system. Waterproof Stetson leather blankets a Hyperfuse constructed upper, with Flywire support, so your feet stay dry, warm, and secure. While the removable inner-bootie affords you warmth inside long after you’ve finished adventuring. Gone are the days of hiking in boots harsher than the conditions themselves. Inspired by the comfort of Nike running shoes, a Nike Lunarlon midsole shaves weight, maximizes comfort and increases mobility, making the LunarTerra Arktos unlike any boot you’ve ever worn before.<\/p>\n

“The word “arktos” is ancient Greek for “bear” and is where the term “Arctic” is derived; meaning the land of the polar bear. The idea was to create a product so warm and utilitarian that it could exist in the Arctic.\u201d – says\u00a0Nate VanHook. He adds, “In Japan it\u2019s customary to take your shoes off before entering some restaurants or anyone\u2019s home. From there I imagined someone trekking mud all over my house. Creating a system with an insulated liner that can be removed from the outer shell allows you to take your boots off at the front door while keeping your booties on for warmth and traction.”<\/p>\n

The Nike LunarTerra Arktos boots will be available at the Nike Sportswear retailer at the beginning of October 2013.<\/p>\n
