‘Urban Kudzu<\/a>‘<\/strong> was created by multi disciplinary artist\u00a0Crystal Wagner<\/strong>\u00a0as part of an exhibition called ‘A Paper Affair’. <\/em>The installation was constructed with artificial materials such as chicken wire, birthday decorations, streamers, plastic tablecloth and other materials purchased from dollar stores and office supply chains.<\/p>\n

With the assistance of the art students at Kansas State University, Wagner began her installation on the site a week before the opening. The students\u00a0helped her tear the streamers into small pieces and then fill every hole in the chicken wire.<\/p>\n

Through her colourful installation, Wagner explores human disconnection from nature. The installation\u00a0represents the increasing divide between humans and their natural environments.\u00a0“We exoticize the natural world because we are not connected to it.” – says Crystal Wagner<\/p>\n

The installation ‘Urban Kudzu’ appears to be growing naturally in the gallery space, just the way Wagner intended it to be.<\/p>\n
