Inspired by the Japanese traditional sliding screens, French architect Emmanuelle Moureaux has created the concept of Shikiri, which literally means ‘dividing space with colours’. Moureaux, who is best known for her use of candy-hued colours in her projects has recently created an installation called ‘100 Colours’ which is being exhibited as part of the Shinjuku Creators Festa 2013.

Created using traditional Japanese paper from paper manufacturer Takeo, Moureaux’s installation modulates a designed space with sour candy colours. Her intelligent utilization of colours as three dimensional elements to create actual spaces rather than just finishing touches on surfaces is commendable.
