‘Melt down’ light is a colorful set of pendant lights designed by Swedish designer\u00a0Johan Lindst\u00e9n of Lindst\u00e9n Form Studio. Recently showcased at the 2012 Salone del Mobile in Milan<\/a>, the light was inspired by Lindst\u00e9n’s travels to Japan and the unfortunate 2011 tsunami<\/a>. The spherical fixtures are made from semi translucent glass which features incandescent bulbs which make it appear that the fixtures are melting down from bottom.<\/p>\n

“The concept and the products are based on an amazing inspirational trip to Japan that unfortunately was delayed for six months after the tragic accident in Fukushima. Would an actual meltdown occur and what would the impact be? The disaster is reflected in the lamps where the process already begun and the bulb are about to melt through the last defense of the glass.<\/strong> The hotel stays have served as studies of all the mandatory bedside tables and lamps we always meet. My series is an interpretation of these two furniture together, and the infinite combinations required for different needs.”<\/em> – says Johan Lindst\u00e9n<\/p>\n
