Bicymple…Bicycle simplified!<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I came across this bike design, I said to myself, “Yet another unrealistic bike design concept<\/a>!”. But, guess what? This is a real bike, tried & tested by experts. The bicymple bike is a project by designer Josh Bechtel of Washington based Scalyfish Designs<\/a>. The minimalist bike has a compact design which makes it easier to pass it in between narrow hallways, staircases and fire-escapes. The frame is made from steel, but it’s minimalist design still makes it light weight. The bike doesn’t only have the conventional front handle steering, but also comes with an optional rear steer mode like the ‘swing bike<\/a>‘\u00a0 patented by Ralph Belden in 1974.<\/p>\n

“By removing the chain, the number of moving parts and overall complexity is significantly reduced. A direct-drive, freewheeling hub joins the crank arm axis with the rear-wheel axis, shortening the wheelbase and minimizing the design.
