Designed by London based design studio Raw Edges, the selvedge armchair is created from the linear elements of the discarded portion of the ‘Hallingdal 65’ fabric which was first produced by Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat<\/a> and designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1965. \u00a0The selvedge, normally found lining the edges of a textile while on a roll, is cut and\u00a0isn’t\u00a0included as a part of the end product. In order to build the chair, the duo released the threads within its woven surface which created a hollow sleeve. Then they placed two layers of different hues on top of each other and then restitched them together using a translucent strip. This resulted in a colorful rim similar to the selvedge usually found at the hem of raw fabrics. The design will be showcased at the Milan Design Week 2012<\/a>.<\/p>\n
