The Infinity Bamboo Bench created by Andrew Williams and Tom Huang explores the possibilities of bamboo strip construction. This infinity bench was inspired by the set of three cocktail tables that was dubbed as “The Comfort Girls” and built using the same techniques. The bamboo bench could be used as an indoor public seating for a museum or even in the outdoors at a public park. Check out the final design and process below.

Process # 1: Computer model concepts are generated using Rhino

Process # 2: The cross sections were generated by the computer modelling program Rhino. They are then traced, cut out of plywood, and placed into the jig. This ensures the end result will be exactly as seen in the computer model.

Process # 3: The completed outside shell.

Process # 4: The inside tube is made with the same process.

Process # 5: The final bench is finished with a lacquer spray.
