Located next to a 17th century church  in the beautiful village of Villabuena de Alava in Spain, Hotel Viura stands out for it’s unique architecture which is built with a series of concrete cubes piled upon each other, appearing to be rising from the ground. Designed by Spanish architecture firm Designhouses, the superimposed concrete blocks are provided with balconies, terraces and huge windows that allow the visitors to enjoy the magnificent views of the church of San Andrés and the distant Sierra de Cantabria mountains.

While the architecture of this hotel is a masterpiece, the interiors of the hotel has nothing extra-ordinary. The hotel features 33 guest rooms with a rustic design feel and provides the necessary luxury and comforts of a three to four star hotel. Old barrels have been installed in the ceiling of the  in-house restaurant reminding the visitors of the wine culture of this region. There is a spacious bar, lounge and library, all designed to provide a chilled out ambience and relaxing experience. Materials and techniques have been brilliantly used together to create avant-garde work of art, strikingly different to its environment but nonetheless blending in to its surroundings.
