Belgian designer Jens Praet of Florence-based Studio Jens Praet has created a brilliant collection of furniture made from surplus and old magazine paper. The furniture pieces were built in collaboration with Elle Décor, which provided Praet with their surplus magazine stock printed on glossy paper. Kilos of magazines were shredded into paper bits which was later transformed into green furniture pieces through a systematic process. Manufactured by Dutch company Wandschappen,  the confetti-like mixture was mixed with resin, which was later moulded and hardened into the desired forms, producing a firmness similar to wood and peppery aesthetic.

The project was initiated by Praet as part of a reaction to the large amount of recyclable waste generated from the corporate sector – transforming unwanted documents into valuable & practical objects. The Shredded paper furniture collection will be showcased at Design Miami.
