Last week we featured the pizzeria built in a shipping container and today I am going to share yet another amazing project which makes use of several shipping containers. Beijing based firm Tonghe Shanzhi Landscape Design has created a hotel named Xiang Xiang Pray House which is built in shipping containers – Restaurant, bar & rooms – there’s one container for each of them. The concept was inspired by an emergency housing system built in such containers in Changshi, a rural village in China. The interiors of the public areas and rooms was first built off site and later shipped to the location for the final finishing touches. The entire design & build process took three months and the hotel is all set for the grand opening this coming August. Now that’s what I call – Living in a box with style!
