Created by French designer Benjamin Grain-Dorge, the Fallen Tree Bench is an unique furniture piece that blends the organic with industrial. The design displays a gradual transformation of a raw material, in this case fallen oak tree into a finished industrial product. While one end of the wooden bench is supported by oak branches, the other end is supported by a borosilicate glass leg, creating an interesting fusion of raw and finished.
The bench was created with the intention to reveal the wood’s DNA, to express it’s deepest nature by attempting to highlight the living fibre it is made of. The design brings the oak tree back to life while truly revealing it’s characteristics: strong, indomitable and magnificent.
