Detroit Design Festival 2012: 19th to 23rd September
Description: The DDF 2012 (Detroit Design Festival) will be featuring over 300 designers and 60 events which include exhibitions, conferences and cocktail parties. The DDF is an unique platform to bring together the best of Detroit’s designs world with over 20 different design disciplines like architecture, art, furniture design, interior design, illustration etc. The DDF is presented by the Detroit Creative Corridor Center (“DC3”), which aims at supporting the growth of Detroit’s creative economy, delivering services and developing programming tailored specifically to creative professionals.
The DDF will begin with a grand opening party on the 19th September at the lobby of the historic Fisher Building and special performances by Nick Speed, Deastro, and Stevie Soul, and a graphic design show curated by AIGA, the professional association for design, featuring 1x Run, a limited edition poster designed by Bethany Shorb of Cyperoptix TieLab.
Matthew Clayson, DC3 Director said, “Before the Detroit Design Festival, the city’s remarkable creative talent didn’t have a regular platform through which they could collectively connect to the community, buyers and other designers.”
“The second Detroit Design Festival is truly a transformative event for the city. We are programming some of Detroit’s signature buildings and activating dormant spaces. Whether you work downtown, live in the city or are visiting, the presence of the Detroit Design Festival will be hard to miss.” – says Melinda Anderson, DC3 Engagement Manager
