Spanish artist Luis Quiles’ illustrations are a perfect combination of his exceptional creative skills and thought provoking ideas. He has created an extremely controversial and provocative series of illustrations that makes a bold statement on the modern day social issues like over-the-counter drug addiction, censorship, corruption, religion, sexism, violence, child abuse, and most relevant of all, our social-media obsessed lifestyle.
The caustic and powerful scenes portrayed in the drawings are Quiles’ interpretation of how he sees the problems that exist in the present day world. Quiles uses disturbing images to show our obsession with social media and how we are enslaved by technology. Some of the images show how our consumerist lifestyle has ruined indigenous cultures, while some portray how women are suppressed and treated like mere objects by the society.
Quiles’ work is evocative and exaggerative to some extent, but there is a harsh reality accurately represented to which each one of us can relate…Don’t you think so?
