I have a few ideas to the rim
To make it stronger weld in a H bar round in the rim

the advantage is a stronger rim and the gear hub can be placed higher

some other ideas possibly with rubber ball bearings in the h bar and the gear hub like a roller coaster
possibly 4 hinges on the h bar to the rim to be able to fold flat
and maybe some inches of medium hard rubber zo you never get a flat tire

I have no more ideas but I am very interested in the development of this bicycle greetings Anton Heidebrink at.heidebrink@gmail.com

They have none of the traditional bike wheels designed rigidity – how will they stand up to actual city riding? Potholes, kerb bumping, drains, bad surfaces, etc., will put enormous strain on those rims.

Also, the drivetrain looks extremely close to the ground at the rear. How far can you lean the bike without scraping the drivetrain along the floor? Considering the way all bikes turn, that is an element that really needs to be looked at.

Overall I do like the design but there are a huge number of possible failure points in this model. If the designer would take advice, I’d say give the prototype to a cycle courier for a month and see how long it lasts, and the condition it’s in when it’s returned 🙂

You got some valid points listed. But let’s remember this is the first prototype. Nevertheless, such valid points are always helpful in any design process

Also the gearing on this bike will be excessively low as the effective gear will be for the tiny wheel driving the rear wheel, unless there is some kind of overdrive gear box inside that tiny wheel. This bike was designed around a single parameter with little to no thought given to making an actual useful (as opposed to “ridable”) bicycle.
