Architecture Exhibition in Denmark: New Nordic – Architecture & Identity at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
Description: Hosted by the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, New Nordic: Architecture & Identity is an exhibition which aims at exploring the relationship of architecture to culture and identity. The exhibition will be focusing on three themes:
- Re-assessing the site-specific
- Re-interpreting community
- Re-claiming public space
The three themes will help visitors to understand and explore the latest developments in the five Nordic countries, as well as increase understanding of the similarities and differences between the Nordic countries through the display of five different houses by architecture firms including Studio Granda in Iceland, Johan Celsing in Sweden, Jarmund/Vigsnaes in Norway, Lassila Hirvilammi in Finland and Lundgaard & Tranberg in Denmark. Each house is an expression of the regional identity and experience from which each architect comes. The rules for the project are simple: each firm has been asked to relate to what Nordic identity can be, and to their ideas of the place-specific in architecture.
